About this plan
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John make up 89 chapters, which divide into the 31 days of a month at about three chapters a day. This plan ties each reading to the date: on the 12th you read Day 12, in Mark, and on the 1st you begin Matthew again, so the life of Jesus becomes something you return to every month.
Matthew takes the first ten days, Mark runs from day 10 to day 15, Luke from day 15 to day 23, and John from day 23 to the end of the month. Because the four books overlap, you meet some stories more than once, from different angles, and the Sermon on the Mount falls on days 2 and 3.
Since it follows the calendar, there is no plan to fall behind on. If you miss a few days, you simply pick up with today’s date.

This plan follows the calendar rather than a start date: on the 14th of any month you read Day 14, and it begins again on the 1st. In a month with fewer than 31 days, it ends on the month’s last day.
